An in-depth course of self-discovery in small groups; a coming of age at specific stages (post GCSE’s and post college).
This is a week of excitement and challenge. The perfect post-exam gift to open their new step in life.

We will journey through some of the harder issues facing young people at this age – everything they are not taught in school.

Our programme is a mixture of survival and life skills with self-reflection and testing adventure activities.

This course is for those who want to be pushed physically, emotionally, and logically. Those who aren’t up to the challenge won’t make it through.

Following the self-authoring mindset, we look at where young people are, where they want to be and how to help them get there. We aim to set a path during the course for the next few years of their life.

We support the course with life skills such as first aid, money management & DIY.

Your young person will be part of a group who have shared a galvanising experience. Most groups stay in contact and support each other in their goals for years after. We take what we are asking young people to go through with us seriously, we provide ongoing support and counselling to any young people who need it, and we will keep in contact with events and meetups for alumni.

In the tradition of a Coming of Age, this is a course that young people can pass or they can fail. We do not believe in participation trophies. We also know young people come to us at all stages, and their challenge will be based on what they find most difficult. They will be judged by their commitment and attitude to the challenge, rather than their achievement. We believe that failing is also a life lesson.

FAQ

This course in particular requires your teen to be self sufficient and bold; we’re here to guide them and build their confidence but to give them the experience of being treated like an adult as they move into the next chapter of their life.

No! Although we run several team building games here, we believe it’s important to take young people out to real rocks, caves and mountains to show off the best of  Wales but also to learn to love and care for our natural environment.

We like to keep these intense courses with lower numbers so we run with 12-24 young people.

We operate under the Challenge by Choice ethos. Although noone will be forced into anything, these over 16s camps have been created for those ready to push themselves to their limits and so we expect everyone to push through their fears. Our highly qualified instructors are there to support you and are trained to know when enough is enough.

Absolutely.

Please make sure your teen is old enough to fly on their own otherwise you’ll have to bring them to us. But, everyone is welcome and our camps are a really great way to improve your english!

We can organise a private car to pick them up from the airport if an adult isn’t accompanying them but this will be an extra cost.

Our free city pick-ups in minibuses will have to be at specific times but if you’re arriving directly to the centre we have more flexibility. If your young person is travelling from abroad, we can organise a private car to pick them up from the airport but please be aware that this is an additional cost. We can be flexible with their arrival as we know that flights are limited.

The above list gives you a guide of what activities we’ll be doing but we’re always thinking of new ideas!

All our activities are run by fully qualified instructors. For most sessions they will be paired up with a group leader; the instructor’s assistant, there to take a pastoral role and make sure every young person is feeling included and happy.

No one needs to bring anything to enjoy their week but we may suggest a small amount of pocket money for extra snacks or souvenirs.

We encourage young people to stay tech free and use their phones as little as possible – it’s part of the experience of learning to be away from home. We also don’t have much signal around here! But we’ll make sure they can contact you if they need to.

Definitely! We will need consent forms for every young person and here you can express if they have any specific dietary requirements. Our cook will make sure everyone is happily fed and full of energy for all the activities!

If we are on site there’s always fruit available but if you need a little something extra you can ask the cook for toast, cereal, a sandwich or left overs from the night before. Tea and coffee is also available at any time.

When you get here! We have a floor dedicated for female and a floor dedicated for male teens. Everyone will be shown their room on arrival.

Same goes with the timetable, but as a rough outline our activity days run from 10am until midnight each day.

We’ll be leaving after breakfast on the Sunday, if we’re taking you back to a city, or pick up at the centre will be by 12 so we won’t provide your teen with lunch but talk to us if it’s helpful to have a packed lunch for their onward journey.

25% of the overall cost is a non-refundable deposit. The rest can be refunded as long as you give us 30 days’ notice.

Definitely! We’ll give you a 10% discount for every additional camper you bring. Reserve the number of teens you’d like to attend by checking our availability (above) and we’ll automatically add a 10% discount to additional campers when we invoice you the rest.

Still have a question?

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to go on this trip, and nothing feels the same. I feel I’ve grown mentally and physically, and I spend more time with myself now trying to continue building myself, but it’s not the same. My journal from this week has become something super important to me, as well as my medallion. I bring it to school with me now, just in my bag. It’s given me motivation to speak more, and I think it’s going pretty well.

So yeah, I don’t have any criticism really. This was the best thing to happen to me in years.

This place is something else, if I could, I would trade in my Xbox to be able to stay here every night.
